Poetry in Action
Poetry in action equips students with essential tools to navigate the challenges of adolescence and beyond. This course focuses on creativity, literature, and storytelling as an art. Students also explore decision-making, self-care, and relationship-building, fostering confidence and resilience. Through interactive activities and real-world applications, poetry in action encourages every student to speak out on what they believe in.

Team Sports; Developing Well-Rounded Athletes
Physical Education class introduces students to a dynamic range of sports including; soccer, ultimate frisbee, disc lacrosse, basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. This engaging elective fosters physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship while allowing students to explore and develop their athletic talents. Through skill-building drills, friendly competitions, and strategy-focused activities, students gain confidence, learn discipline, and build lasting connections with their peers.

Visual and Performing Arts; Expressing Creativity and Talent
Visual and Performing Arts program offers students the opportunity to explore their artistic passions through diverse studio classes and dynamic performances. From mastering watercolors, ink and pen sketching, pottery and clay, and acrylic painting to bringing stories to life in our middle school drama class, students are encouraged to express themselves creatively. Each year, our drama students shine in the highly anticipated school musical, showcasing their talent and teamwork. This program nurtures imagination, confidence, and collaboration, inspiring students to appreciate the arts as a powerful form of expression and connection.

RFMA Cheer!
In RFMA Cheerleading, students will build school spirit while learning important skills both on and off the mat. Students will practice cheers, chants, and beginner stunts, as well as simple dance routines that they can perform at school events and games. Along the way, they’ll strengthen their coordination, rhythm, and endurance through fun, active practices.

Journey Through Our Heritage
Journey Through Our Heritage is a class that empowers students to learn about the history, culture, and impact of the ChicanX movement. Students will explore important historical moments, key leaders, and the social and cultural context that shaped this movement. Through discussions, projects, and community connections, they will gain a deeper understanding of identity, activism, and resilience.

At Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, our elementary Physical Education class promotes fitness, coordination, and a lifelong love of movement. Through fun games, age-appropriate exercises, and team activities, students develop motor skills, build strength, and learn the importance of staying active. Emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits, our PE program supports students’ physical and emotional well-being - creating a strong foundation for their growth and success.

Visual Arts; Inspiring Creativity & Imagination
Visual Arts class sparks creativity and nurtures self-expression in young learners. Students explore a variety of artistic techniques and mediums, such as drawing, painting, and crafting, while discovering the joy of creating. Through hands-on projects, they develop fine motor skills and learn to appreciate art as a means of storytelling and connection. Our Visual Arts program encourages imagination and celebrates each child’s unique perspective.

Social-Emotional Learning; Growing Hearts & Minds
Our Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) class helps elementary students develop the skills to understand and manage their emotions, build positive relationships, and make thoughtful decisions. Through engaging activities, discussions, and role-playing, students learn empathy, resilience, and conflict resolution. This class creates a safe and supportive environment where students can grow emotionally, build confidence, and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
