ELA

At Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, our English Language Arts (ELA) program is rooted in a strong foundation of early literacy and a commitment to individualized learning. We prioritize building essential reading and writing skills from the earliest grades, ensuring every student develops the tools they need for lifelong learning. Through small group instruction, our teachers are able to tailor lessons to meet each child’s unique needs, fostering growth, confidence, and a love of reading in every classroom.

Math

At Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, math instruction is designed to spark curiosity and build a deep understanding of numbers, patterns, and logic. Students engage in hands-on learning, meaningful discussions, and real-world problem solving that makes math relevant and engaging. Through small group instruction, teachers provide focused support and enrichment, helping each learner develop strong number sense and the confidence to tackle complex challenges with creativity and persistence.

Science

At Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, our science program encourages students to explore, question, and discover the world around them. Rooted in inquiry-based learning, students engage in hands-on experiments, investigations, and collaborative projects that bring scientific concepts to life. From life cycles, ecosystems, physics, and chemistry our curriculum fosters curiosity and critical thinking while connecting classroom learning to the natural and physical world.

History

At Ricardo Flores Magón Academy, our history program empowers students to understand the past in order to make sense of the present and shape a better future. Through engaging lessons, primary source analysis, and storytelling, students explore diverse perspectives and key moments in local, national, and global history. Our curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, cultural awareness, and the importance of civic engagement, helping students develop a strong sense of identity and social responsibility.

Student Support

At RFMA Elementary, we actively use restorative justice practices to build a strong, supportive school community where every student feels heard and valued.

Instead of focusing on punishment, we guide students to reflect on their actions, understand how others are affected, and take responsibility in meaningful ways.

Through regular class circles, peer mediation, and guided conversations, students learn to express their feelings, resolve conflicts peacefully, and restore relationships. These practices help create a safe, respectful environment where students grow both socially and emotionally.
