Susan Cox
Secretary

In Okinawa, it is believed that obtaining a balanced, happy life is reached through the ongoing development of four areas, like the legs of a chair. If any one of those “legs” is not reinforced daily, the chair falls over. One of those legs is intellectual development through ongoing education. The importance of education was consistently stressed in Susan’s home while growing up. The idea that education removed the barriers to dreams, unlocked doors of opportunity and provided a deeper understanding of the world in which we live was reinforced at every turn. With four school teachers in Susan’s family, she has been kept informed as to the challenges and successes of the education system in the state. And with over 25 years working at the state legislature representing various industries, she has been able to keep a close eye on changes to Colorado’s educational system, both K – 12 and higher education. From the very beginning, Susan loved going to school and learning new things every day. She continued her formal education to obtain a bachelor of arts degree in Speech Communication at Colorado State University (Go Rams!). And every day since, she reinforces that leg of her life chair.
