Department of English Language Acquisition: RFMS offers sheltered instruction for students who have been identified as having a language background other than English. Our Sheltered Instruction program involves a set of teaching strategies, designed for teachers of academic content, that lower the linguistic demand of the lesson without compromising the integrity or rigor of the subject matter. The benefits are for ELL students, as well as native English speakers with a variety of learning styles. Teachers adjust the language demands if the lesson in many ways, such as modifying speech rate ad tone, using context clues and models extensively, relating instruction to student experience, adapting the language of texts or tasks, and using certain methods familiar to language teachers [demonstrations, visuals, graphics organizers, or cooperative work] to make academic instruction more accessible to students of different English proficiency levels. To exit from the ESL program, the school will look at your child's work in these areas: tests, classwork, grades, and listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. The average number of years to exit the ESL program is between 3-7 years. Although you may change your mind about these services at any time, please remember that consistency is important to your child's success in school. Please let the school know if you want to change the services your child is receiving. If you do not choose one of the options for your child, the school will responsibly choose to provide services to your child;

Media Disclosure: This agreement constitutes permission to allow print or electronic media to interview and/or photograph your student and for RFMA to use photogrpahs and video footage of your student in employee training, presentation and information about our school, programs and people that may be distributed by the by school district. Excursions / Field Trip Year Long Permission Slip: On occasion, students will be given the opportunity to participate in field trips. Students must be in proper RFMA school uniform to attend. No additional siblings or children may attend field trips with students. On field trips, students may take a school bus, walk, or use some other means of transportation. I consent to my child being taken on field trips during the entirety of the school year. If you acknowledge "yes" your student will have year long permission to attend all class trips. An electronic message will be sent to alert you of these trips as they happen throughout the year as a courtesy. If this trip includes extenuating circumstances, you will be asked to sign additional permission for your student. RFMA is not responsible for student injury sustained on an excursion or field trip. Lastly, please agree below giving your child permission to attend this field trip.
