Mindfulness

Dedicated to teaching and living inclusion

Inclusion and mindfulness are core fundamentals at RFMA, taught and reinforced from the moment our school, staff, and parents arrive on campus. Our full-time social worker and their intern work together to create emotional learning opportunities, to celebrate and understand inclusivity and our differences.

We use ReThinkEd's social and emotional learning curriculum. Our teachers implement its evidence-based lessons three times a week for all students in grades K-8.  The inclusive classes are designed for diverse learners of all ages, including students in special education. The program aims to develop self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills and social awareness. The focus is on the entire school and community to promote healthy and confident students and adults.

School-wide student assessments allow our data-based lessons to be created for the social-emotional needs of our student population. Assessments, offered in both English & Spanish, are taken in the fall and again in the spring to measure the curriculum's outcomes.
